About The Role:
Are you a sustainability analyst with strong data analytics skills and a passion for solving complex climate challenges? Reporting to our Head of Sustainability, you will work closely with our sustainability and data teams to support clients with carbon reporting, interpret emerging disclosure requirements, and contribute to new capability areas including modern slavery and sustainable cloud and AI reporting.
This role will initially be a 10-week contract, full time (dates flexible), however there is potential for the intern position to roll onto part-time work after this period.
You will be responsible for:
- Support enterprise clients with carbon accounting, greenhouse gas emissions reporting, and climate disclosure requirements.
- Research, maintain, and validate emissions factors, sustainability datasets, and other reference data used within the Generate Zero platform.
- Assist with the development and enhancement of carbon accounting methodologies, including financed emissions calculations and emerging sustainability frameworks.
- Analyse and interpret large datasets to identify trends, improve data quality, and support the delivery of accurate, audit-ready sustainability reporting.
- Contribute to the development of new sustainability capabilities, including modern slavery risk screening and other ESG data and reporting solutions.
- Collaborate with the Sustainability, Data, and Product teams to test new functionality, document methodologies, and continuously improve Generate Zero's sustainability platform.
- Learning how sustainability data, methodologies and technology come together to help organisations measure, manage and reduce their environmental and social impacts.
What you will bring:
- Studying towards, or recently completed (within the past 12 months), a qualification in either sustainability (ideally with exposure to carbon accounting, emissions reporting, climate disclosures, and broader ESG frameworks such as modern slavery and nature-related risk) and data analytics/data science.
- Experience with SQL and/or Python would be an advantage; comfort with Excel and other Office tools
- Comfort working on ambiguous, unsolved problems where no established playbook exists
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to document technical work clearly for a regulated compliance environment
- A can-do attitude, curiosity, and great communication skills
- A love of working in a collaborative environment and bouncing ideas around
