Cyber Security Threat Detection & Incident Response Intern
Internship Period: 11 January 2027 – 30 June 2027
Job Description
MUFG is seeking a proactive and motivated Cybersecurity Intern to join the Regional Technology Information Security Team. This internship provides meaningful, hands-on exposure to Security Operations, Threat Detection, Incident Response, and automation initiatives across the APAC region, with opportunities to contribute to global programs that strengthen the Bank’s security posture.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about Threat Detection & Response, looking to gain real-world experience in cybersecurity operations. As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will assist in identifying, assessing, and managing security alerts and vulnerabilities within the organization’s IT environment. You will also gain practical experience in AI/LLM‑assisted security automation, SOC alert management, incident response workflows, and detection engineering, while supporting ongoing improvements to our defensive capabilities.
Assist in automating Security Operations Center (SOC) tasks, such as email threat analysis, IOC blocking, and other workflows using AI and automation tools.
Support the development of monthly KRI (Key Risk Indicator) reports, including automating data collection from multiple internal sources.
Contribute to Incident Response activities, ensuring timely investigation, containment, and recovery during cybersecurity incidents to minimize impact to the bank.
Participate in daily security event monitoring, helping identify and analyze cyber threats such as malware, vulnerability exploitation, denial‑of‑service attempts, and other attack vectors.
Assist in general security operations tasks, including managing the SOC mailbox, analyzing suspected phishing emails, and helping triage or escalate alerts from the SOC team.
Support in gathering data and preparing KRI metrics, dashboards, and monthly cybersecurity reporting.
Help maintain and develop documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, workflows, and process improvements.
Job Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
Possesses practical knowledge of generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted automation, with the ability to validate outputs for accuracy and reliability.
Proficient in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages, with experience processing data, integrating APIs, or automating operational workflows.
Demonstrates strong analytical thinking, data-handling, communication, and documentation skills, with awareness of data confidentiality, responsible AI use, and human oversight in security decisions.

This internship role is based in Singapore. It is open to Singaporean and PR students only.
