About the Role

The opportunity: Trainee Lawyer (12-month Fixed-Term Contract)

Being part of HSBC in Poland, you’ll help evolve and grow our business.

This role can be based in Warsaw.

Join the Legal and Regulatory Line at HSBC Poland and build hands-on legal skills in a truly international financial services environment. This internship role offers exposure to banking contracts, corporate governance matters, procurement contracts, HR-related matters, GDPR/data protection, and regulatory topics—working closely with (and supported by) experienced Legal colleagues.

Are you a law student or law graduate? Do you have a strong interest in legal research and clear, business-friendly writing? Do you enjoy working with diverse stakeholders and turning legal requirements into practical solutions?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, we want to hear from you!

What you will do:
You will provide legal guidance and day-to-day support in designated areas (following initial consultation with a team member), support the wider Legal team in advising Global Functions and the Global Service Centre (GSC), and help identify legal risks connected with the Bank’s activities.

In this role you will:

•    Support preparation of corporate documentation and corporate governance materials for HSBC entities, ensuring accuracy and alignment with internal requirements.
•    Assist Operations teams (under senior Legal supervision) with queries related to clients’ corporate structure matters, including letters of authority, board/shareholder resolutions, powers of attorney, and related corporate authorisations.
•    Conduct legal research (doctrine and case law) and produce clear, structured summaries highlighting key considerations for senior Legal review.
•    Prepare initial drafts of procurement/contracting documentation using approved templates and guidance, incorporating feedback from senior team members.
•    Perform initial analysis of HR-related queries by identifying key issues, gathering background information, and preparing a preliminary view for senior Legal review.
•    Support knowledge materials and stakeholder enablement by creating/updating FAQs, drafting legal alerts, and helping track relevant legislative and regulatory developments (local and EU).

You should apply if you have:

•    A law degree in progress or completed (or equivalent legal studies) and a genuine interest in working in a business environment.

•    Strong analytical skills, including the ability to research, synthesise information, and see the “bigger picture”.
•    Good organisation skills, independence, and a proactive approach to managing priorities and deadlines.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write succinctly and work collaboratively.
•    Problem-solving mindset and an ability to propose practical, commercially minded solutions.
•    Basic familiarity with (or strong motivation to learn) corporate/company law, contracts, HR-related legal topics, and GDPR/data protection.
•    Fluent knowledge of Polish and English (both written and verbal).

Even if you feel you do not meet 100% of our qualifications, we encourage you to apply, if you believe this role is right for you.

What you’ll get in return:

The pay range for this role is 6 800 PLN –  8 500 PLN (monthly, gross)

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance
