About the Role

Description

McShane Construction is hiring summer interns to participate and learn the various activities required to sell, design, and construct a project, including project controls, schedule management, quality management, and safety. By managing all aspects of project construction – from concept to completion - McShane project managers develop best-in-class skills and abilities that are the envy of our peers. Our internship program includes training, field visits, job site tours, career coaching from company leadership, weekly intern roundtables, and company philanthropic and social events. 


Responsibilities:

Project Controls

• Learn to create, maintain, and manage project RFI’s, submittals, material procurement, drawings and drawings changes, meetings minutes, punch lists, and closeouts. 

• Assist in review and approval process of documents associated with project controls. 

• Confirm subcontractor insurance project compliance

• Assist in maintaining all logs associated with project controls. 


Schedule Management

• Participate in the preparation of project schedules and updates


Quality Management

• Become familiar with the company’s Quality Assurance Program & Manual

• Assist in management of Inspection Tracking Logs, QA/QC compliance logs


Safety 

• Become familiar with the company’s Safety Program

• Participate in preparing specific project safety plan 

• Participate and assist in weekly jobsite safety orientation meetings. 


Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree.  

• Able to communicate effectively and work productively with others.

• Other success factors include attention to detail, problem solving, reliability, thoroughness, positive attitude, professionalism, and an eagerness to learn.

• Ability to use a computer, the Internet, and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and email software.

Key Information:

• Seasonal full-time, in-person role split between the local office and assigned jobsite.

• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

• Authorization to work in the U.S. required.
