Utilities Engineer Intern

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Utilities Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team at a leading multinational pharmaceutical manufacturing site.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting critical utility systems that enable the safe, compliant, and reliable manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The successful candidate will work closely with Utilities Engineers, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and EHS teams to support the operation, maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of site utility systems, while gaining exposure to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), pharmaceutical regulations, and world-class engineering standards.

Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day operation and monitoring of site utility systems, including:

- Clean Utilities (Purified Water, WFI, Clean Steam)

- HVAC systems

- Compressed Air Systems

- Water Systems

- Steam and Condensate Systems

- Black Utilities

  • Assist Utilities Engineers in troubleshooting equipment and system performance issues.
  • Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve asset reliability and uptime.
  • Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, including utility consumption analysis and identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with engineering projects from concept through implementation, including design reviews, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Actively contribute to a positive safety culture by participating in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident prevention initiatives.

Qualifications Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:

Mechanical Engineering

Chemical Engineering

Energy Engineering

Process Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Or a related engineering discipline

  • Strong academic record and interest in engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and data analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong focus on safety and continuous improvement.
