Materials development presents one of the greatest opportunities in 3D printing. As a Materials intern, you’ll work side-by-side in the lab with the rest of our Materials team. You’ll get an opportunity to constantly develop, formulate, and test materials that we’ve never printed with before -- and every experiment plays a big role in how we solve new challenges in 3D printing.

Internship Term: Winter/Spring 2027 (January - April)

The Job:

  • Work in our materials development lab on various materials challenges

You:

  • Passionate about material science or chemistry
  • Comfortable working in a wet lab environment
  • Have completed research or coursework with polymers
  • Comfortable working with CAD programs (ie SolidWorks)
  • Basic computer programming (Python)
  • Background in organic chemistry or plastic engineering

Compensation

Interns at Formlabs are paid on a bi-weekly pay schedule. The pay range for this role will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization. This is a salaried role, so you will always be paid based on the assumed 40 hours per week as a full-time intern. This position does not offer housing or relocation assistance.

The weekly pay range for this role is:
$1,300$1,900 USD
