Position Summary:
The Product Engineer Intern will support the Product Engineering team through a combination of project-based assignments and day-to-day engineering activities. This internship provides exposure to product design, development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will contribute to departmental goals by assisting with engineering documentation, product evaluations, and technical analysis while also leading or supporting up to three meaningful projects focused on enhancing product performance, quality, manufacturability, or overall engineering processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead independent summer project/s focused on improving the design, cost and manufacturability of ABEC’s Stainless Steel Product Line.
- Design and perform testing to characterize potential improvements.
- Assist in all stages of product development by conducting research, gathering data, and providing input on product features and improvements.
- Create prototypes and proof-of-concept models for new product ideas, ensuring they align with project goals and specifications.
- Conduct product testing, including functionality, performance, and usability testing, and document and report any defects or issues to the Product Manager.
- Create and maintain documentation, including product specifications, user manuals, and test plans, to ensure clarity and consistency throughout the product development process.
- ·Identify areas for process improvement within the product development cycle and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Evaluate product costs and work with operational departments to reduce costs and improve gross margins.
- Ability to work in a professional team-based office environment and meet date-driven customer-focused commitments.
- Execute other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Bio, Chemical, etc.)
- Knowledge of 3D Parametric CAD a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; including Word and Excel.
