About the Role

Acron Aviation is seeking motivated and innovative Electrical Engineering interns to join our engineering teams in St. Petersburg, Florida.


This full-time, onsite internship is anticipated to run May through August and provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a professional engineering environment. Interns will contribute to the design, development, testing, integration, and support of aviation products and technologies.


Depending on the assigned location, team, and product line, interns may gain experience across electrical engineering disciplines such as analog, digital, power, radio frequency, high-speed circuitry, embedded systems, firmware, programmable logic, circuit card assemblies, and supporting cables or interfaces.


You will work alongside experienced engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams while developing your technical, analytical, and professional skills.

What you will do
  • Responsibilities may vary based on the assigned location, team, product line, and current business needs. Examples include:
  • Work under the guidance of experienced electrical engineers and technical team members.
  • Support electrical design, development, testing, and product integration activities.
  • Assist with requirements analysis, specification development, and interface definition.
  • Participate in component selection, circuit analysis, simulation, and schematic capture.
  • Support circuit card assembly design, board layout, and design documentation.
  • Assist with laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of engineering designs.
  • Analyze test results and help document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Support root cause analysis and investigations involving product or system performance.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Test, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering teams.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support production and test teams with product troubleshooting, test equipment upgrades, or process improvements.
  • Develop or maintain electrical engineering requirements, technical documentation, and design artifacts.
  • Write or modify scripts, tools, or simple software used to support engineering analysis, testing, or development.
  • Perform other engineering assignments aligned with your academic background and the needs of the assigned team.


Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Expected to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study before the internship begins.
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles and circuit analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and engineering processes.
  • Ability to work full-time and onsite at the assigned Acron Aviation location for the duration of the internship.
  • This position may require access to information, technology, software, or hardware that is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations. To comply with these requirements, applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person


Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework, project experience, prior internship experience, or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
  • Analog, digital, or power electronics
  • Circuit analysis and circuit card design
  • Embedded systems or digital signal processing
  • FPGA design, VHDL, or Verilog
  • Radio frequency, antennas, communications, or modem technologies
  • Controls, photonics, optics, or optical engineering
  • Electronic design automation tools
  • Test equipment, laboratory instrumentation, or automated testing
  • MATLAB or Python
  • Linux or Windows computing environments
  • Aerospace, aviation, or another regulated industry
  • Technical clubs, engineering competitions, research, or relevant academic projects
