About the Role

Kick-Start Your Career in Finance with QIC

We're looking for an Undergraduate Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Brisbane. This role is ideal for an accounting student keen to build hands-on experience in management accounting and learn how to tell the story behind the numbers, while being part of a social, supportive team. Rather than focusing on transactional financial accounting, you'll get exposure to the analysis that helps shape business decisions. You'll focus on analysing financial data, identifying why profitability is changing, then communicating those insights through clear visualisations that make the numbers easier to understand and act on. You'll also support budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to ad hoc analysis for stakeholders ranging from business managers through to the Board, all within a collaborative environment that's invested in helping early-career talent grow.

What's on offer?

  • Paid 12-week period with the potential for ongoing work.
  • Flexible 2-3 days per week or up to 5 days during summer.
  • Flexible November start date.
  • Scheduling that works around university commitments and exam periods.
  • Brisbane CBD location.

What you'll be doing

Working as part of our collaborative Finance team, you'll:

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Support management reporting and performance tracking.
  • Help identify and analyse business trends and profitability drivers.
  • Build visualisations that help tell the story behind the numbers
  • Build practical Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your development.
  • Gain exposure to how finance partners with the broader business.

Who we're looking for

We're seeking motivated students who are excited about building a career in accounting and want to apply what they're learnings in the classroom to a real business environment.

Essential:

  • Current undergraduate student majoring in Accounting and/or Business Analytics
  • Expected to graduate in 2026 or 2027
  • Sound Excel capability
  • Good attention to detail and time management
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach

Nice to have:

  • Previous internship or relevant work experience (highly regarded)
  • Exposure to financial analysis or reporting in a practical setting
  • Confidence working across Microsoft tools
  • Curiosity about how accounting connects to the broader business and career pathways

Why students choose QIC

At QIC, you'll do more than observe. You'll contribute to real work, collaborate with experienced professionals, and gain insight into how finance supports a sophisticated investment business.

This is a chance to:

  • Build valuable experience before graduation.
  • Develop practical skills employers are looking for.
  • Expand your professional network.
  • Explore career pathways in accounting and finance.
  • Work in a supportive team that genuinely invests in early-career talent.

Ready to put your studies into practice and gain experience that sets you apart after graduation? We'd love to hear from you.
