About the Role

2027 Guardian Summer Intern, Digital & Technology – Data Engineering 

Our 2027 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week learning experience where you will be immersed in the daily environment of a thriving global financial services company. You will gain invaluable industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments, in addition to engaging in projects that directly affect our business, interact with senior leaders in conversational settings, and network with employees and interns across our offices. This 10-week internship provides you with realistic experiences and information of what it is like to work at Guardian.

For all roles, teams are assigned mid-spring. Doing so offers the ability to assign program participants to real-time, business-critical needs.

Internship Dates:

The internship program will run from Thursday, May 27, 2027- Friday, August 6, 2027.

You are:

A current junior (graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028) or current sophomore (graduation date of December 2028 or May 2029) who is fueled by collaboration, able to listen and make quick decisions and thrive in a goal-oriented environment.

You have:

Required Qualifications:

  • A self-starter mentality – someone who enjoys “rolling up their sleeves and getting things done”, has high energy, strong work ethic, displays the ability to work independently, and is creative
  • Exposure to programming using Python and SQL
  • Understanding of databases, data structures, and data processing concepts
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, distributed data processing, or modern data engineering technologies is a plus (AWS, Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Interest in data engineering, analytics engineering, AI/ML, or large-scale data platforms
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong willingness to learn, adapt, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment 

You will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver trusted data across enterprise platforms
  • Work with structured and semi-structured data sources to build scalable data products that support reporting, analytics, machine learning, and business applications
  • Learn and apply modern cloud-based data engineering technologies, including Databricks, AWS, Python, SQL, and data orchestration tools
  • Participate in data quality validation, monitoring, testing, and documentation activities to ensure reliable and trusted data assets
  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Explore how AI-assisted engineering, automation, and modern data platforms accelerate development, improve productivity, and enhance data-driven decision making
  • Develop your skills in data exploration, engineering, and analysis while learning to think critically and question                          
  • Have the opportunity to work and learn from supportive leaders, mentors, and team members across the organization who will help coach you as you develop your professional career
  • Learn about Guardian’s purpose, values, how we work, and our suite of product and service offerings
  • Build a network of colleagues and have a sense of community with other interns and other parts of the business

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship are not available for this position.

Salary Range:

$20.00 - $35.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
