About the Role

International Card Services - ICS brings together American Express’ international card issuing business across Consumer, Small Business and Corporate customers. Operating across 27 countries, ICS serves a diverse range of customers and plays an important role in American Express’ international business.

Within ICS, Governance & Control helps our businesses identify, understand and manage risk so that they can operate safely, responsibly and in line with their obligations. We work in partnership with teams across different countries and areas of the business, providing guidance and expertise on risk management, controls and regulatory requirements.

Our work covers a broad range of topics and business activities. This could mean helping a team consider the risks associated with a new product or process, supporting improvements to how risks are managed, analysing emerging issues and trends, or helping the business respond to regulatory requirements.

As a Summer Intern within ICS Governance & Control, you will gain practical experience of working within a global financial services organisation while contributing to meaningful work with real business impact.

You will join one of the teams within ICS Governance & Control and work alongside colleagues on current business priorities and projects. Your experience will vary depending on your placement, giving you the opportunity to learn about an area of Governance & Control while also gaining broader exposure to how American Express manages risk across its international businesses.

Throughout the internship, you will have opportunities to build your professional network and develop transferable skills including problem-solving, analysis, communication, collaboration and project management.

You do not need previous experience in risk management or financial services. We are looking for students who are curious, eager to learn and excited by the opportunity to contribute to a global organisation.
