NMIT WORK EXPERIENCE

Students at NMIT are full-time students undertaking a two year programme of full time study towards a Level 4 Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering. These students have a good understanding of how an engine works but benefit from exposure to the workplace.

The student will participate in the work experience programme for a period of eight weeks through various areas of the business.

Production Leaders in the students 'areas are responsible for ensuring each student has a ‘buddy’ assigned to them to assist, supervise and include them in the team during work and break periods.

NMIT students are paid the minimum wage while they are with the CHCEC.

All students must complete the pre-employment alcohol and other drugs test and medical questionnaire.

NMIT Expectations / what they would like the students to achieve:

•General introduction to the workplace

•Not expecting learning outcomes

•Exposure to working in a team

•Exposure to the engineering environment

•Exposure to the aviation industry

CHCEC Expectations / what we would like to achieve for the students:

•Focus on the practical aspects of safety; FOD awareness

•Team involvement with emphasis on tool control and inventory checks etc.

•Involved in day to day tasks that do not warrant a signature e.g. lifting

•Within various operational areas so that they see the process from beginning to end, i.e. Induction to BX or LX and ending with Finals.
