About the Role

Description

Atlas Engineering Group is seeking motivated civil engineering students to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting a variety of transportation engineering projects while working alongside experienced engineers and industry professionals.

At Atlas, you will receive guidance, supervision, and mentorship from professionals committed to your success and professional development. Depending on your interests and project needs, you may contribute to projects involving highways, bridges and structures, traffic engineering, construction management, and surveying.

Our multidisciplinary team leverages innovative engineering, design, and construction practices to deliver resilient, sustainable, safe, efficient, and reliable transportation solutions.


 Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities may include:

  • Apply engineering principles to real-world transportation projects through the development of design and construction documents.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and support technical analyses using industry-standard software and engineering tools.
  • Conduct field inspections to assess existing conditions and support project planning, design, and construction activities.
  • Collaborate with project teams by reviewing plans and drawings, verifying technical documentation, and providing engineering support throughout project delivery.

 Compensation

The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $21.00 to $26.00 per hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and qualifications.

Requirements

  Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest in civil or transportation engineering through applicable coursework, academic projects, extracurricular activities, research, or prior internship experience involving design, inspection, or construction.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet applications, engineering drawing interpretation, and technical report preparation.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn, with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of CADD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience using engineering analysis and design software such as Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, or similar applications.
