Description

Are you interested in a career where you can build relationships, solve problems, and make a meaningful impact for businesses and individuals?

Heffernan’s Insurance Sales Internship provides college students with hands-on exposure to the world of insurance brokerage and the opportunity to learn what it takes to build and grow a successful insurance business. Over the course of this 10-week program, you will work alongside experienced insurance professionals, participate in sales and client activities, learn about the insurance industry, and gain a firsthand understanding of the sales process from identifying opportunities and preparing for prospect meetings to developing relationships and delivering solutions.

This is an opportunity to experience the insurance industry beyond the classroom while developing valuable business, communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.



Key Responsibilities

  • Shadow and work alongside experienced insurance producers and sales professionals.
  • Learn how insurance brokers identify client needs and develop solutions.
  • Gain exposure to the prospecting and business development process, including identifying potential clients and preparing for prospect conversations.
  • Develop an understanding of insurance products.
  • Assist with sales presentations, proposals, and other business development materials.
  • Work with service and other internal teams to understand how sales opportunities transition into ongoing client relationships.
  • Participate in insurance education and training opportunities.
  • Complete an intern group project and present your work to Heffernan leadership.
  • Participate in networking, mentoring, and professional development activities throughout the summer.

  • Students entering their senior year of college. Graduating seniors will also be considered.
  • Students Interested in sales, business development, relationship management, or the insurance industry.
  • Confident communicators who enjoy interacting with people.
  • Curious, motivated, and willing to learn.
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and speaking with new people.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working as part of a team.
  • Proactive and willing to take initiative.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Ability to receive coaching and feedback and apply it to improve performance.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
