Department: Engineering, Geology, Finance, Human Resources, Maintenance, Environmental, and Safety

Position Summary

Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining is seeking ambitious, motivated, and safety-focused students to join our Summer 2027 Internship Program. This unique rotational internship offers hands-on experience across multiple disciplines within the mining industry, providing exposure to technical, operational, environmental, business, and people-focused functions.

Interns will work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful projects that support the development and operation of one of Idaho's historic mining properties. The program is designed to provide practical industry experience, professional development, and insight into the diverse career opportunities available within the mining sector. Sunshine's leadership and operations emphasize expertise in mining, technical services, finance, human resources, environmental stewardship, and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Interns may be assigned projects and responsibilities in one or more of the following areas:

Engineering

  • Assist with mine planning, infrastructure projects, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Participate in field inspections and project reviews.

Geology

  • Assist with geological mapping, sampling, and data management.
  • Support exploration and resource evaluation activities.
  • Participate in geology and technical services projects.

Finance

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Analyze operational and financial data.
  • Support business planning and administrative projects.

Human Resources

  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, employee programs, and administrative processes.
  • Support training and workforce development initiatives.
  • Participate in employee engagement and culture-related activities.

Maintenance

  • Support equipment maintenance planning and reliability initiatives.
  • Assist with inspections, documentation, and maintenance reporting.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.

Environmental

  • Assist with environmental monitoring, compliance, and reporting activities.
  • Support sustainability and reclamation initiatives.
  • Participate in environmental data collection and analysis.

Safety

  • Support workplace safety inspections, audits, and training programs.
  • Assist with incident tracking and safety reporting.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout operations.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Geology, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and professionalism.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
