Job Description:

Overview of Role

This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insight into the workings of the commodity trading industry, with a strong focus on Shipping and Cargo Operations. Interns will be exposed to various functions including Voyage Control and Claims. The role provides an excellent learning platform in a dynamic and international    work environment, alongside experienced professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Gain a foundational understanding of Tanker Operations – both Shipping and Cargo.
  • Support the Voyage Controllers team in handling owner and miscellaneous voyage-related payments.
  • Assist the Claims team in managing voyage-related claims such as demurrage and port claims.
  • Learn from Freight Traders and the Chartering team about various types of cargo/voyage fixtures.
  • Support the Vetting team in understanding the clearance procedures for operated tankers.
  • Assist the Voyage Performance team in monitoring the daily performance of time-chartered vessels.
  • Participate in various projects and initiatives across the Shipping and Support teams.
  • Ad-hoc duties as assigned by manager.

Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following (not all are mandatory):

  • Currently pursuing a university degree in Maritime Studies or a related field.
  • Keen interest in Shipping or Oil Transportation.
  • Strong communication and business writing skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably Power BI.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Availability to commit to a full-time, 5-day work week for a 6-month internship period.
