About The Company
Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. is a family owned and operated industrial steel fabrication company. Southland primarily serves the refining, power and chemical markets. Our facility is located on 60 acres with 300,000 sqft of production area. Our facility is fully automated with the latest CNC equipment. We maintain lean manufacturing processes and our facility is quality certified by the American Institute of Steel Construction and the Canadian Welding Bureau. We are also the only steel fabricator in the Gulf South certified to apply cryogenic, intumescent and lightweight cement fireproofing in house. These complex coatings are applied in a 20,000 sqft climate controlled facility. Our fabrication capacity exceeds 30,000 tons annually and we deliver material throughout North America.
About the Role

Title: Environmental Intern

Location: Mandeville, LA

Position Overview: Bollinger is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Intern for a full-time, on-site summer internship at our Mandeville facility. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional, real-world environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct general research and data organization for Environmental initiatives
  • Review and compare written HSE programs
  • Support maintenance and review of the online SDS system and conduct SDS reviews
  • Evaluate environmental records such as surface preparation/coating and waste reports
  • Support Environmental program tracking
  • Assist in environmental calculations and compliance reporting
  • Provide administrative and documentation support to Safety and Environmental teams

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in an undergraduate program in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of workplace environmental regulations, familiarity with environmental and compliance documentation, ability to review and organize technical and regulatory records, accurate data entry and basic reporting, attention to detail, basic research skills, document control and version management, ability to interpret and compare written procedures and reports.
  • Soft Skills: Must have basic computer skills using MS Office applications and ability to interact with company personnel.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

 

This internship offers valuable hands-on experience with our environmental group, allowing students to develop industry-relevant skills, expand their professional network, and contribute meaningfully to Bollinger’s HSE department.
