BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION
This position is based in Thimphu, Bhutan, working closely with Head of Communication and is designed to support the Country Office (CYA) in strengthening strategic communication, visibility, advocacy activities by developing content for digital and traditional media platforms, documenting field activities, producing stories and visual assets, and contributing to the monitoring and reporting of communication outputs related to CYA programme priorities and ongoing project interventions.
The role aims to strengthen programme visibility, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based communication of results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Tracking
Strengthening the communication with partners supports the development of communication materials, including stories, articles, social media content, and visibility products showcasing WFP programmes and results.
Assist in capturing and producing multimedia content (photos, videos, graphics, and presentations) for digital and print platforms.
Assist in organizing communication campaigns, events, field visits, and stakeholder engagement activities to enhance WFP's visibility and outreach.
Contribute to documenting programme achievements, lessons learned, and impact stories.
Other responsibilities, as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Be an undergraduate from a recognized university.
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C).
Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and report writing skills.
Ability to work to deadlines and follow clear instructions
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout the assignment, selected candidates have access to an industry leading learning platform, WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment, the selected candidate should have:
Enhanced skills in content creation, storytelling, photography, videography, and digital communications for development and humanitarian programmes.
Gained practical experience in documenting programme results and translating evidence and field experiences into engaging communication products.
Developed an understanding of strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and visibility practices within the United Nations and development sector.
TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT
This opportunity is particularly well-suited for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in an international organization. It offers valuable exposure to WFP’s operations and the chance to contribute meaningfully to its mission.
The selected candidate will receive IT equipment and training material during internship; however, financial compensation and medical coverage are not provided by WFP. Applicants may seek alternative funding opportunities, such as university grants or external scholarships, to support their assignment.
