Ready to make an impact? We're looking for an intern(s) to join our team for the onsite 10-week Summer 2027 Internship Program (May 17 - July 23, 2027) at our headquarters in Wilmington, NC. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 23.

We are seeking a Summer Intern to join our Technology Portfolio Management Office and contribute directly to the delivery of technology that will shape the future of our industry. 

 

Position Overview 

The Technology Portfolio Management Office drives the successful delivery of new technology and business process efficiency in support of our enterprise strategy and ongoing customer needs. As a Summer Intern, you will work alongside other project managers, and perform similar work on real, active projects. You will support project teams, help coordinate delivery activities, and see firsthand how technology moves from idea to customer impact. Your communication and collaboration skills will be instrumental in helping your team be successful. Your curiosity about technology, and a willingness to learn agile methodologies, will be keys to your success in this role. 

 

 

How You’ll Do It 

  • Domain Knowledge: Build your project management and agile knowledge and apply it to help the Technology organization deliver on its goals. 

  • Project Management: Support the coordination of people, processes, and technology to deliver projects in line with business goals. 

  • Agile Delivery: Participate in agile ceremonies and help coordinate the delivery of technology increments with continuous customer feedback loops. 

  • Process Improvement: Contribute ideas to the improvement and optimization of processes affecting multiple teams, fostering collaboration and efficiency. 

  • Problem Solving: Identify, explore, and resolve problems in collaboration with your team. 

  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate effectively with members of your project teams. 

  • Relationships: Build and nurture working relationships with others and leverage those relationships to achieve greater outcomes. 

 

Capstone Project and Mentorship 

  • Capstone Project: You will own a summer capstone project scoped with your manager in the first two weeks, and present your outcomes and recommendations to Technology leadership at the end of the internship. 

  • Mentorship: You will be paired with an experienced project manager who serves as your mentor, plus a peer buddy for day-to-day support, with regular check-ins throughout the summer. 

  • Exposure: You will have opportunities to meet with leaders across Technology and the broader bank to understand how our work supports small business customers. 

 

Preferred Experience 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program 

  • Coursework, campus involvement, or prior experience related to project management, business, information systems, or a related field 

  • Interest in project management and agile best practices 

  • Knowledge of and/or experience using tools such as SmartSheet, Jira, Confluence, and Office 365 is a plus 

  • Demonstrated ability to: 

  • Solve problems 

  • Communicate and collaborate with teams 

  • Manage time and follow through on commitments 

  • Passion for technology and innovation

The base pay range for this position is $56,540.00 - $92,520.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
