About The Company
The CMA CGM Group is a global player in sea, land, air and logistics solutions, true to its corporate Purpose, "We imagine better ways to serve a world in motion". Present in 177 countries, it employs 160,000 people, of which nearly 6,000 in Marseilles where its head office is located. The world's 3rd largest shipping company, CMA CGM serves more than 420 ports across 5 continents with a fleet of over 650 vessels. In 2024, CMA CGM carried over 23 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) containers. Its subsidiary CEVA Logistics, one of the world's top five players, operates 1,000 warehouses and handled 15 million shipments in 2024. CMA CGM AIR CARGO, the Group's air freight division, will operate a fleet of 6 cargo aircraft by 2025. CMA Media, France's 3rd largest private media group, includes RMC-BFM and several national and regional press titles (La Tribune Dimanche, La Tribune, La Provence and Corse Matin). Committed to energy transition, the CMA CGM Group is aiming for Net Zero Carbon by 2050. The CMA CGM Foundation provides humanitarian aid in crisis situations, and is committed to education for all and equal opportunities throughout the world. To date, the CMA CGM Foundation has transported 63,000 tons of humanitarian aid to 97 countries and supported over 550 educational projects.
About the Role

Led by Rodolphe Saadé, the CMA CGM Group, a global leader in shipping and logistics, serves more than 420 ports around the world on five continents. With its subsidiary CEVA Logistics, a world leader in logistics, and its air freight division CMA CGM AIR CARGO, the CMA CGM Group is continually innovating to offer its customers a complete and increasingly efficient range of new shipping, land, air and logistics solutions.

Committed to the energy transition in shipping, and a pioneer in the use of alternative fuels, the CMA CGM Group has set a target to become Net Zero Carbon by 2050.
Through the CMA CGM Foundation, the Group acts in humanitarian crises that require an emergency response by mobilizing the Group’s shipping and logistics expertise to bring humanitarian supplies around the world.

Present in 160 countries through its network of more than 400 offices and 750 warehouses, the Group employs more than 155,000 people worldwide, including 4,000 in Marseilles where its head office is located.

YOUR ROLE

CMA CGM Fleet Center manages large-scale vessel routing operations, relying on multiple data sources, optimization tools, vessel performance models, operational constraints and business rules. Key knowledge is currently distributed across systems, experts, documents and databases.

You will join the Fleet Center, IT and R&D teams to develop an AI-powered solution that improves the documentation, transparency and traceability of routing decisions, covering the full Dynamic Routing ecosystem: weather data providers and forecasting models, optimization engines and routing algorithms, vessel performance models (digital twins), operational constraints and business rules, geospatial reference databases (bathymetry, Traffic Separation Schemes, environmental or regulatory zones), as well as the internal Dynamic Routing, RDT and MyRoute tools.

It is an opportunity to work on a high-impact operational use case at the intersection of generative AI, maritime routing, knowledge management and decision support.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

  • Document the Dynamic Routing ecosystem and centralize knowledge from multiple sources.
  • Build a comprehensive inventory of the information requiring documentation: data sources, ownership, dependencies and update processes.
  • Build a structured, searchable and maintainable knowledge base, usable by the Fleet Center, IT and R&D teams.
  • Define the governance and automated update mechanisms for the documentation.
  • Design an AI agent prototype able to answer questions about the models used, the constraints considered and the known limitations of a routing recommendation.
  • Develop automated generation of explanatory route reports and knowledge sheets (assumptions, models, constraints, data sources, known limitations).
  • Explain routing recommendations, calculation assumptions and known limitations.
  • Support the Fleet Center, IT and R&D teams in understanding routing decisions.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Education: Engineering or Master's student in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics, currently in progress
  • Experience: with Python and data processing
  • Skills: strong analytical, documentation and communication skills
  • Adaptability: ability to understand complex technical systems and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong interest in Generative AI, knowledge management and decision-support systems
  • Knowledge of LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, knowledge graphs or AI agents
  • Interest in maritime transportation, operations and optimization
