Looking for a summer internship where you can do more than sit behind a desk? Byrne & Jones Construction offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a construction company that is leading the way in St. Louis and throughout the Midwest.


As a Construction Intern, you'll be challenged to perform, learn from experienced professionals, and gain valuable real-world experience in both the field and office. You'll work alongside our team on active construction projects, develop your skills, and see firsthand what it takes to successfully deliver a project from planning through completion.

Byrne & Jones Construction is the largest commercial asphalt paving company in the St. Louis metro area and one of the largest builders of athletic fields in the Midwest. Our projects include football, baseball, soccer, track, and sports courts.

What You'll Do

As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside both office and field personnel while gaining exposure to many aspects of commercial construction. Responsibilities may include:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Read and understand construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from plans and field visits.
  • Determine project requirements and assist with preparing accurate cost estimates.
  • Support office and field personnel throughout the construction process.
  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers during construction.
  • Assist with project documentation, organization, and administrative duties.
  • Perform filing, scanning, copying, and other office tasks as needed.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects based on your skills and interests.


What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Engineering Management
    • Construction Management
    • Business
    • Or a related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to work in both an office and construction field environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • A positive attitude and desire to build a career in the construction industry.
