The purpose of this position is to provide a professional growth experience for individuals by immersing them in the design and development process within the Merchandise Department. As a Design and Product Development Fellow, you will learn the entire development process, as well as the best practices in event merchandising and the retail industry from a team of talented professionals.
During your Fellowship, you will work under the guidance of the Product Manager to learn the fundamentals and best practices of design, development, and retail/ event merchandising related to:
• Development of apparel and non-apparel items
• Communication with International and Domestic suppliers
• Evaluating merchandise through confirmation of specifications and communicating comments
• Active participation in Design and Development meetings
• Visual merchandising of retail locations on the property
• Representing Augusta National Golf Club and living by its set of core values
• Play an integral role in supporting merchandise operations during Masters week
Upon completion of the Fellowship, you will complete a project assigned by the organization, which will test the knowledge, skills, and abilities you have gained during the Fellowship.
Essential Functions of the Job:
As part of this job, you will be required to perform the following key tasks:
Work closely with the Product Development and Creative Services Teams to assist with the creation of new designs and products.
Help support communication daily with supplier vendor base
Assist the Product Development Team in developing strategic assortment plans and roadmaps.
Research market trends to support Patron experiences through merchandise.
Maintain an archive of samples from current and previous seasons.
Provide visual feedback across different product categories.
Prioritize tasks and workload to meet deadlines.
Assist with special projects as required.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Utilize internal or external business knowledge to enhance product or service quality.
Work together with the team to maintain quality standards through the product development process.
Acquire a better understanding of Augusta National Golf Club, including its organizational structure, products and services, customer base, and the competitive market.
Qualifications (required unless stated otherwise):
Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills
Highly motivated, team player, and self-starter
Effective organizational skills
Ability to work in a collaborative, creative, and fast-paced environment, while being able to take creative direction from managers.
Effective researching skills to find the best reference possible.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs such as Office, Excel, and Word
It is preferred for the candidate to have proven proficiency in ADOBE Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
Effective time management skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks within tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail in both digital and physical applications, along with researching skills.
Experience/Education:
Currently enrolled as a senior or a recent graduate of an accredited college or university, preferably with a degree or expected degree in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Product Development, Retail Merchandising, or a related field.
Required License(s):
To operate a Club’s vehicle, you must have a valid driver’s license or complete the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program.

Work Environment
The typical work environment is climate-controlled. However, in certain situations, employees may be required to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, or wind, as dictated by the position's demands.
Projected Work Schedule
The work schedule is from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with the possibility of working on weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by the business.
Physical Demands
The nature of the job requires employees to meet certain physical demands. The employee must frequently walk and use their hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds, and operate a golf cart. The employee should also have good hearing and vision. Sitting for several hours at a time and using a computer are also part of the job.
