GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The SAP Security Intern will participate in administering SAP security, managing user access, supporting governance and compliance activities, and maintaining secure SAP solutions across on-premise and cloud-based SAP platforms. The position partners with business and technical teams to ensure appropriate access controls, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence throughout the SAP landscape.

 

LAUNCHPAD INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The American Equity Launchpad Internship Program is designed to identify, develop, and empower the next generation of talent. The Launchpad Internship Program is a 10–12 week, in-person experience based in our downtown Des Moines office. Interns gain hands-on experience, collaborate with professionals across the organization, and contribute to work that drives meaningful business outcomes.

 

Program Highlights

·         Contribute to meaningful projects that deliver real business impact.

·         Participate in an Intern Hack-a-thon focused on solving real business challenges and presenting innovative solutions to company leaders.

·         Develop professional skills through learning sessions, leadership presentations, and networking opportunities.

·         Engage in community service projects, Des Moines Intern Connections events, and social activities with fellow interns.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Design, develop, maintain, and support SAP security roles, profiles, authorizations, and access controls in SAP S/4HANA environments.

·         Administer user access requests, role assignments, and security changes in accordance with company policies and security standards.

·         Support SAP Fiori security administration, including business roles, catalogs, spaces, pages, groups, and tile security.

·         Assist with SAP HANA database security, including user administration, privilege management, auditing, encryption, and security monitoring.

·         Support SAP Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) activities, including Access Request Management, Access Risk Analysis, Emergency Access Management (Firefighter), and User Access Reviews.

·         Perform Segregation of Duties (SoD) analysis and assist with remediation efforts to reduce security risks.

·         Completes project and support tasks with guidance from mentor and department leader.

·         Collaborates with fellow interns across departments on a strategic, cross-functional initiative that drives meaningful business impact.

·         Performs other related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

·         Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.

·         Other preferred skills and experience: Exposure to SAP modules (such as FI/CO, MM, SD) through coursework or projects.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

·         N/A

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·         Effective verbal and written communication skills.

·         Familiarity with SAP modules like FI (Financial Accounting), SD (Sales & Distribution), MM (Materials Management), etc.

·         Strong Mathematical skills and attention to detail.

·         Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.

·         Ability to analyze system issues, propose solutions, and implement improvements.

·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

·         Ability to successfully prioritize requests and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

·         Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
