Position Overview
MetroPower's Intern / Management Trainee Program is designed to develop future construction project management and leadership talent through hands-on field experience, project exposure, and training in branch operations.
Intern Track: Designed for students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree who are interested in gaining real-world experience in electrical construction and project management.
Management Trainee Track: Designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals seeking a long-term career in construction project management and leadership. Trainees will complete progressive field and operational assignments with the goal of assuming increased responsibility within MetroPower.
Essential Functions
Participants will gain exposure to areas including:
- Electrical construction field operations and worksite safety
- Materials, equipment, installation processes, and blueprint reading
- Project management, estimating, bidding, and scheduling
- Material handling, order processing, and project documentation
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control and process improvement
- Customer service and business operations
- Leadership and MetroPower's Servant Leadership philosophy
- Special projects, market research, and other assignments as needed
Interns will primarily focus on learning, field exposure, and supporting project teams, while Management Trainees will receive progressive training in project, operational, and leadership responsibilities.
Qualifications
Candidates must be quick learners with strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, personal integrity, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented construction environment.
Intern Candidates
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree
- Strong interest in construction, engineering, or project management
- Desire to learn and contribute as part of a team
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license
Management Trainee Candidates
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Related construction experience may substitute for education
- Strong interest in a career in construction project management and leadership
- Willingness to travel and work in field environments
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity in construction and outdoor environments
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, sit, and maneuver in confined spaces
- Ability to wear required PPE and respirators when necessary
- Ability to travel and occasionally work beyond typical business hours
