Know where you belong!
Match Group is a leading provider of dating products across the globe. Our portfolio includes Tinder, Hinge, Match, Meetic, PlentyOfFish, OkCupid, The League, HER, and others, each designed to spark meaningful connections for singles worldwide. Creating a sense of belonging doesn’t stop at our products - it’s the foundation of every team we hire.
When it comes to dating, the connection starts online, but the real magic happens once you meet in real life (IRL). We think the same is true for creating the best platforms, so we work together IRL 3 days/week.
We are seeking a talented and motivated early-career software engineer to join the Match Group Core in a brand new role enabling greater productivity in non-technical teams through bespoke software and workflow solutions.
Match Group Core is the central services division for Match Group, providing shared services and data solutions for all brands under the Match Group portfolio, including Tinder, Hinge, Match.com, POF, OKC, and many others. Additionally, Match Group Core is a technical service provider for many internal central and corporate teams, such as HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Privacy, Marketing, IT, and Security.
With a special focus on internal product development and workflow enablement, you'll play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining internal products and workflow solutions (HR/People-focused) that benefit employees across the organisation. Most crucially, you will be enabled with extensive agentic tooling to achieve your goals, and in turn, you will be expected to impart your expertise on your stakeholders, and enable them with AI to achieve their own goals.
This role is a paid, fixed-term 4-6 month internship, with an opportunity that this role can be converted into a full-time permanent position at the conclusion. This is also a hybrid role, and requires in-office collaboration three times per week.
\nIn this role, you will:
-
Partner directly with corporate teams (primarily HR) to understand their problems and ship working internal tools quickly: dashboards, portals, small web apps, reports, and integrations.
-
Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc) as your primary means of building, while applying engineering judgement to what those tools produce.
-
Administer, optimize, and expand a multi-tenanted Databricks platform to meet evolving analytics and business intelligence requirements.
-
Teach and coach non-technical stakeholders to build and maintain their own AI-assisted workflows and tools, which may include running informal group sessions and pairing sessions, or producing guidance, templates, or sufficient guardrails that they can leverage or re-use.
-
Develop and deliver solutions according to lightweight but sensible software development methodologies, with close collaboration MG Core's product engineering arm, to ensure what is built is secure and maintainable.
-
Create and maintain clear documentation, including technical notes, integration docs, and operational and how-to guides written for a non-technical audience.
-
Monitor and troubleshoot the tools you ship, providing timely fixes and keeping stakeholders informed.
-
Keep up to date with the fast-moving AI tooling landscape and bring the best of it back to the team.
-
Gain broad exposure across Match Group’s central services and corporate functions.
-
0-2 years of professional experience as a software engineer, or a recent degree, diploma, or bootcamp qualification in a relevant field.
-
Hands-on experience using agentic development harnesses and similar AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc), with experience or familiarity with agentic instructions (AGENTS.md, skills) and MCP servers.
-
A strong understanding of foundational software principles and programming fundamentals, as well as development lifecycles, spanning source control (GitHub), CI/CD (automated testing and quality analysis), and monitoring (logs, metrics, error detection and troubleshooting).
-
Familiarity with software delivery methodologies, such as agile scrum or kanban.
-
Experience in building modern web frontends (using React or similar), as well as accompanying backend REST APIs.
-
Familiarity with relational/SQL, as well as NoSQL or KV databases.
-
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Cloudflare), including conceptual understanding of serverless concepts.
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills - a significant part of this role is explaining technical work to non-technical people, so patience, empathy, and clarity matter as much as coding ability.
-
Solid understanding of IT security concepts, as well as sound judgement around data sensitivity and confidentiality - much of what you build will touch employee and business data.
-
Excellent problem-solving skills and a bias toward delivering value quickly rather than getting it perfect - as is the nature of internal tooling.
-
Strong enthusiasm for software development and eagerness to learn and grow.
-
Legally authorized to work in Canada for the duration of the internship.
-
Any exposure to HRIS platforms, especially Workday - even light experience as a user or administrator of a HRIS or similar is valuable here.
-
Experience in the Human Resources domain, or with people data, recruiting, payroll, or benefits systems.
-
Experience working within specific cloud environments, namely Cloudflare (primary) and AWS (secondary).
-
Experience working with serverless hosting technologies, such as Cloudflare Workers.
-
Experience working within containerised environments, such as Docker and/or DevContainers.
-
Exposure or experience working within project management tools such as Jira or Monday.com.
-
Experience contributing to open source projects.
-
Experience working at a B2B or SaaS company.
