Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. The Service and Access Planning team is seeking three (3) Co-op Students to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of GO Transit rail services. Working with internal stakeholders, you will gain hands-on experience in rail service planning, operational analysis, transit data management, and customer-focused service improvements that support the delivery of GO Transit services across the region.
What will I be doing?
Support rail service planning and operational improvement initiatives.
Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain service and operational data for the GO Rail network.
Develop and maintain spreadsheets, databases, and reports used to support planning and decision-making.
Assist with the preparation of operational documentation, including internal and public-facing timetables.
Conduct research and analysis to support service planning, monitoring, and performance evaluation activities.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and support project deliverables.
Support the development of presentations, reports, and planning materials.
Participate in occasional fieldwork, including passenger counts and service observations.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Required:
Currently enrolled full-time in a recognized post-secondary co-op program and eligible to complete a co-op work term as part of your academic requirements, with plans to return to school following the work term.
Enrolled in Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, Computer Science, Transportation Planning, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Assets:
Experience working with large datasets or performing quantitative analysis.
Familiarity with GIS, Power BI, R, Python, or similar analytical tools.
Interest in transportation planning, rail operations, or public transit.
