Our Summer Internship Program gives students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while contributing to meaningful business and technical work.
Each intern is placed within a department or functional area and assigned a summer-long project tied to a real business need. Throughout the internship, interns work with employees and leaders in their assigned area, build practical experience, and learn how their function contributes to the broader organization. At the end of the summer, interns present their project, findings, and recommendations to company leaders and other stakeholders.
Our internship program also serves as an important talent pipeline for future opportunities, including our CAST Engineering Program and MELT Operations Development Program.
What You'll Do
- Own a meaningful project within your assigned department or function, with support and guidance from a manager or project mentor.
- Apply knowledge from your academic program to real business, engineering, manufacturing, or operational challenges.
- Gather information, analyze data, solve problems, and develop recommendations related to your project.
- Collaborate with employees and leaders across the organization.
- Gain exposure to our business, customers, products, manufacturing processes, and key business drivers.
- Participate in learning, networking, and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing your project, approach, results, and recommendations.
Areas of Opportunity
Internship opportunities may be available across a variety of engineering, manufacturing, operations, and business functions. Availability within specific departments may vary based on business and project needs.
Engineering & Technical: Process Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Metrology, Tooling, Design, and Business Development Engineering.
Operations & Business: Manufacturing Operations, Production Planning, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Accounting/Finance, Quality, Human Resources, and other business functions.
Tell Us What Interests You
When applying, please tell us which department, function, or area of work interests you most. We want to understand where you would most like to build experience so we can consider your interests alongside available summer projects. Applicants may identify more than one area of interest.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree, or recently graduated, in engineering, business, operations, supply chain, accounting, finance, or another field related to the internship area of interest.
- Interest in gaining hands-on experience within a manufacturing organization.
- Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and learn new concepts.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Initiative, curiosity, and willingness to take ownership of a project from initial understanding through final presentation.
Working Environment
Intern experiences vary based on department and project assignment. Work may be performed in office, engineering, laboratory, and/or manufacturing environments. Interns assigned to manufacturing or technical areas may spend time in active investment casting areas and may be exposed to heat, noise, moving equipment, dust, fumes, and other conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
