Programme overview:

Our 2027 London Summer Internship Programme runs for 10 weeks, starting on Monday 14 2027 and finishing on Friday 20 August 2027. This internship is designed to give you a unique introduction to the asset and wealth management industry and offers valuable insight into how your chosen department operates within Schroders.

 

Throughout the programme you will:

 

  • Take part in comprehensive introductory training to build your understanding of the business

  • Be assigned to a team where you will contribute to live projects and gain meaningful hands-on experience

  • Shadow experienced professionals and learn directly from leaders in the field

  • Have opportunities to network with colleagues and other interns, helping you build connections for your future career

As an intern, you will undertake two rotations across quantitatively driven investment desks. This will give you exposure to a broad spectrum of strategies.

 

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for proactive and adaptable individuals who display robust numerical and analytical skills and a strong work ethic. You should be curious about financial markets, comfortable working with data and digital tools, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. Clear communication, a collaborative spirit, and a logical approach to solving problems are essential. If you are driven to grow and ready to contribute to dynamic investment teams, we encourage you to apply.

Preferred skills and capabilities:

  • A basic understanding of macroeconomic trends and investment concepts relevant to asset management.

  • A clear interest in financial markets and investing. 

  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to work with large or complex numerical datasets.  Excellent attention to detail. 

  • A growth mindset: a hunger to seek and receive feedback and to continuously challenge yourself to grow.

  • The ability to present ideas and insights confidently to a range of audiences.

  • The ability to approach business and investment challenges with logical thinking, using structured reasoning.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Quantitative team specific technical skills:

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques to gain scalable insights from data

  • Knowledge of equity or fixed income factors and modelling techniques is preferred

  • Knowledge of financial markets and fundamental company analysis is preferred

  • Knowledge of and ability to work with market data is preferred

  • Knowledge of at least one programming language, with Python preferred

 

The department:

The internship spans 3 quantitative investment teams across equities and fixed income, each with different strategies and focuses.

  • Quantitative Equity Products: Combines fundamental insights with systematic quantitative research, applying a disciplined investment process and robust risk management at scale

  • Schroders Systematic Investments: Focused on systematic, data-driven, and algorithmic trading strategies

  • Quantitative Fixed Income: Using quantitative techniques to facilitate dynamic, flexible investment across global fixed income markets.

     

During your 10-week placement, you’ll have the opportunity to rotate across two of these diverse teams, gaining a broader understanding of different investment areas. You’ll be encouraged to contribute actively, ask questions, and take on tasks that will help you build your knowledge across the business.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications we’re looking for:

  • When the internship commences, you will have completed your second year of studies and will be on track to graduate with a degree (or equivalent) in 2028.

  • We welcome applications from all degree subjects, although a Mathematics focused degree discipline would be beneficial.  

  • Please note that we do not accept applications from students in their final year who intend to undertake further study (e.g. a Master's degree) before entering employment.

  • A good working knowledge of document production software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • The ability to understand our target audiences
