Engineering Co-op - Product Development - Knee & Hip

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student pursuing a Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering degree to support the Knee & Hip Arthroscopy Engineering team in Naples, FL.  The Knee & Hip Arthroscopy Engineering team is responsible for supporting all product development activities, as well as the maintenance of the products within the portfolio. A successful candidate will assist the engineering team with SolidWorks modeling and drawings (creating new and editing current), draft documentation as needed, attend verification testing and validation labs, and various other engineering activities with guidance from the engineering staff. The individual should have a firm understanding of SolidWorks and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation that is requested.  Join our talented team at a global medical device company focused on Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™.

This co-op will run from January 2027 – June 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To work with the Knee & Hip Arthroscopy Engineering department to gain experience in research, design, testing, and development of medical devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the engineering team by attending verification testing, ensuring test protocols were followed and attend validation labs to gain a better understanding of anatomy and Arthrex products.
• Attend training sessions, symposiums, departmental meetings etc. as required.
• Utilize SolidWorks for drawing creation and prototyping/modeling.
• Effectively works with peers, project team members, and other departments in new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering, or a recent graduate.  Junior or above required. 
  (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing and possess the ability to work through technical issues.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

• Knowledge of surgical equipment/instrumentation, and mechanical testing equipment.
• PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• Experience with CAD (SolidWorks) required.
