Research Co-op - Orthobiologics/Vet

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student pursuing a degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology or related field, to support the Orthobiologics Research team in Naples, FL. This team is responsible for supporting the engineers and product managers within Orthobiologics and other departments. The successful candidate will assist in research and product development efforts with guidance from the Orthobiologics staff. The individual will perform various research studies and analyses (cell culture, wet lab tissue collections, imaging, protein quantification, Arthrex Orthobiologics product testing) and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation of the testing. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.  Join our talented team at a global medical device company focused on Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™.

This co-op will run from January 2027 – June 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To gain knowledge and experience in research and product development for orthopedic applications, specifically Orthobiologics, while assisting scientists, engineers, and product managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support in product development process and research, including developing research protocols and execute testing.
• Analyze and interpret data.
• Compose technical reports to communicate results of experiments.
• Perform literature review of relevant topics in orthopedics and basic science.
• Present experimental findings to engineering and product management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology or related field or a recent graduate in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology or related field required.  Sophomore or above preferred.
  (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
• Prior work in a laboratory setting, with experience in cell culture, biosafety cabinet and aseptic technique preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Statistical analysis experience preferred. 
• General understanding of engineering design process preferred.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy/physiology preferred.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
