Civil Engineering Intern

DUBUQUE, IOWA

The Civil Engineering Intern position is designed to provide hands-on technical and engineering experience through meaningful project work that supports the intern’s professional growth and career development. The internship offers exposure to municipal engineering projects, water resources engineering projects and transportation engineering projects, including both office and field-based responsibilities, with a significant opportunity to assist on active construction sites. 

Interns will work alongside experienced professionals to gain practical knowledge in project administration, engineering documentation, design support, and construction observation. Future internships and opportunities upon graduation may also be available.

Position Responsibilities.

• Assist with active construction projects involving municipal water, roadway, utility, and wastewater infrastructure.
• Support construction administration activities, including: 

1. Documenting construction progress and daily activities.
2. Communicating project status updates to project managers.
3. Performing measurements, testing, and general construction oversight.
4. Interacting with contractors, subcontractors, residents, and municipal staff.

This internship provides a valuable opportunity to develop technical skills, gain real-world engineering and construction experience, and explore potential career paths within the engineering profession.
