About the Role

Summer 2027 Internship Program

 

RHI Magnesita is seeking driven and innovative Engineering students to join our Summer 2027 Manufacturing Engineering Internship Program. This paid internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a world-class manufacturing environment while working on meaningful projects that directly impact plant performance, safety, quality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.

 

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support either our Production Engineering or Maintenance & Reliability Engineering teams and work alongside experienced engineers, supervisors, and plant leadership to solve real business challenges. Unlike many internships, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that create measurable results while developing practical engineering skills that extend beyond the classroom.

 

This internship is designed for students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a dynamic industrial setting and explore career opportunities within a global manufacturing organization.

What You'll Do

 

Production Engineering Focus

 

  • Support process improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Assist with root cause investigations related to production issues and process variability.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support documentation updates including work instructions, process maps, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with capital and improvement projects from planning through implementation.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to improve plant performance.

 

Maintenance & Reliability Engineering Focus

 

  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs designed to improve equipment reliability.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, troubleshooting efforts, and reliability analyses.
  • Analyze maintenance data and key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in root cause failure analyses and corrective action implementation.
  • Help develop and update maintenance procedures and equipment documentation.
  • Support maintenance-related capital projects and equipment upgrades.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve asset performance and uptime.

 

Shared Responsibilities

 

  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to all environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Participate in engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations based on findings and project results.
  • Gain exposure to manufacturing technologies, automation systems, and engineering best practices.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Students entering their Junior or Senior year in Fall 2027 are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Interest in manufacturing, production processes, equipment reliability, continuous improvement, or industrial operations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, co-op, research, laboratory, project, or manufacturing experience.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, CAD software, data analysis tools, or reliability concepts.
  • Experience working in team-based project environments.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety practices and engineering project work.
