Compensation: $18.00/hour
PURPOSE: The Leadership and Organizational Development Intern will primarily support leadership development, internal employee training, and organizational development initiatives. Interns will gain practical experience developing learning content, coordinating training programs, maintaining learning records, supporting adult learners, and assisting with the daily operations of a corporate Learning and Development function. This role will work with instructional design, learning technologies, Workday Learning, and internal programs that support leader effectiveness, employee development, and organizational capability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Leadership and Organizational Development Support
- Support leadership development, organizational development, employee training, career development workshops, and related learning events by coordinating schedules, communications, materials, attendance, evaluations, and follow-up items.
- Assist with leadership program administration, including cohort communications, participant tracking, session preparation, evaluations, summary reporting, and continuous improvement follow-up.
- Support organizational development initiatives, employee engagement activities, team effectiveness resources, and culture-related projects through project coordination, documentation, and resource organization.
- Maintain organized program resources, templates, learning materials, project documents, contact lists, shared files, and feedback or program data in approved locations, including SharePoint.
- Prepare participant and facilitator materials, including presentations, handouts, name tents, evaluations, training supplies, and other resources needed for in-person, virtual, or blended learning events.
Learning Content and Instructional Design Support
- Work with Learning and Development staff and subject matter experts to update leadership development, organizational development, employee training content, job aids, presentations, participant materials, and other learning resources.
- Assist with creating or revising learning content using basic instructional design and adult learning principles, established templates, and Dairyland quality standards.
- Use learning-development tools such as Microsoft 365, iSpring, Synthesia, Workday Learning, and other approved systems to support course development and delivery.
- Review, organize, and recommend internal or third-party learning content based on learning objectives, audience needs, content accuracy, accessibility, and course quality.
Learning Systems, Coordination, and Administrative Support
- Create, update, and test courses, course offerings, learning content, instructions, and learner communications in Workday Learning using established procedures.
- Coordinate training logistics, including registration, calendars, room or virtual meeting setup, materials, supplies, attendance, post-session follow-up, and related administrative support.
- Maintain training calendars, SharePoint sites, organized electronic files, learning records, standard reports, and related program documentation.
- Respond to routine employee questions about learning resources, course access, registration, assigned learning, or transcripts, and refer more complex issues to appropriate Learning and Development staff.
- Research assigned learning and development topics, participate in team meetings and project discussions, share useful findings, and perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience: Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical college. Pursuing an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree in instructional design, education, adult learning, human resources, organizational development, business, psychology, communications, educational technology, or a related field. Previous internship or professional experience is not required. Preferred experience may come from coursework, volunteering, or academic projects involving:
- Leadership development, organizational development, student organizations, workshops, or group learning activities.
- Instructional design, curriculum development, training, or education.
- Communications or digital content creation.
- Data management, program coordination, or event support.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Interest in learning and development, adult education, instructional design, training coordination, or learning technology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate recordkeeping.
- Ability to organize schedules, course information, learning materials, electronic files, and project tasks.
- Ability to learn new systems, follow documented procedures, and manage assignments with appropriate guidance.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, or the ability to learn these applications.
- Interest in learning Workday Learning, SharePoint, Synthesia, iSpring, and other training-development tools.
- Ability to create clear, professional, and visually consistent materials.
- Ability to interact professionally with employees, leaders, and subject matter experts.
- Ability to handle employee and training information with discretion.
- Willingness to ask questions, receive feedback, and revise work.
- Dependable, curious, and organized, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
