Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Intern/Co-op – Highway/Roadway Engineering to join its collaborative team in Austin, TX. This individual will serve a key function in the engineering design of highways, freeways and local roads for diversified transportation projects across the country. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist with the design and permitting of traffic/transportation engineering and infrastructure projects in a cross-disciplinary learning environment. 

Job Responsibilities

• Geometric designs of highways, freeways, and local roads using national and local codes;
• Concept layout and preliminary design of roads;
• Preparation of Traffic Signalization drawings and plans;
• Design of roadway drainage networks and preparation of stormwater management plans;
• Construction specifications review and estimating of costs and quantities;
• Preparation of Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans (MPT);
• Use engineering equipment and design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Guidesign, AutoTURN, etc.) to prepare engineering and design documents;
• Complete ADA inspections of constructed facilities; and
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering / Transportation Planning;
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred;
• Familiarity with  Guidesign and AutoTURN is highly desirable;
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or SoftDesk civil software are a plus;
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
• Travel may be required based on business needs and project assignments. Travel requirements may vary by position and may change based on business needs.
