About the Role

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Graduate Sustainability & Energy Planning Intern to support sustainability, decarbonization, energy management, climate resilience, and net-zero planning initiatives for large-scale projects.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional technical writing, analytical, and research skills. This individual will support the development of technical memoranda, reports, presentations, implementation strategies, energy analyses, sustainability roadmaps, and stakeholder engagement materials.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-profile sustainability, climate resilience, energy, and transportation planning initiatives.

This is a hybrid position and a five-month internship from November 2026 through March 2027.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a graduate degree in a sustainability or Environmental Management related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in technical writing, research, and reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Research & Analysis

  • Conduct research on sustainability, decarbonization, energy efficiency, climate adaptation, and net-zero best practices.
  • Support energy and greenhouse gas data analysis, benchmarking, and forecasting efforts.
  • Assist with evaluation of energy conservation measures (ECMs), building electrification opportunities, and decarbonization strategies.
  • Support analyses related to: 
    • Distributed Energy Resources (DERs)
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • Renewable energy technologies and alternative fuels
    • Fleet electrification and decarbonization
  • Review and summarize technical reports, energy audits, utility data, planning studies, and sustainability initiatives.

 Technical Writing & Reporting

  • Draft and edit technical memoranda, reports, executive summaries, and presentation materials.
  • Convert complex technical information into concise, clear, and professional language for various audiences.
  • Prepare narratives describing methodologies, findings, recommendations, assumptions, and implementation strategies.
  • Develop figures, tables, charts, dashboards, and summary graphics to support project deliverables.

Sustainability & Net-Zero Planning

  • Support development of sustainability and net-zero implementation roadmaps.
  • Contribute to project databases tracking sustainability, energy, and climate resilience initiatives.

Stakeholder & Project Support

  • Assist in preparing meeting agendas, presentations, workshop materials, and meeting summaries.
