About The Company
The Utah Jazz is a professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are currently part of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the NBA (National Basketball Association). Originally located in New Orleans, Louisiana, the franchise began in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz and the18th professional basketball team to enter the NBA. Despite drawing well, the franchise struggled and was eventually moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1979 after just five years in the league. In 1985, Larry H. Miller became co-owner of the still struggling organization, and then a year later, purchased the remaining portion from Sam Battistone to become the sole owner. The Jazz has since become one of the more successful teams in the league with frequent post-season playoff appearances, including consecutive appearances from 1984 to 2004, as well as two NBA Finals appearance in 1997 and 1998.

Utah Jazz Bantam Game Day Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

The Utah Jazz Bantam Game Day Intern plays a vital role in supporting the coordination, logistics, and execution of Jazz Bantam youth basketball games and practices throughout the fall and winter seasons. This position works closely with the Jazz Youth department to ensure a high-quality experience for all participants while contributing to the success of other youth programs and

community events. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and passionate about basketball, youth development, and event operations.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of Jazz Bantam game days and practices, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for players, coaches, and parents.
  • Collect, verify, and enter game scoresheets from each location in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with the Referee Assignor to confirm daily referee schedules, address last-minute changes, and coordinate replacements for no-shows.
  • Maintain consistent communication with game day venues to ensure all logistics are in place, including signage, banners, scorekeepers, gym supervisors, and court availability.
  • Assist in scheduling and overseeing scorekeepers, serving as a key point of contact for on-site operations.
  • Provide on-site support at select games and practices, including setup, breakdown, and event execution.
  • Track and submit scorekeeper hours and coordinate payment processes at designated locations.
  • Uphold the Utah Jazz brand by fostering a fun, safe, and memorable environment for youth participants and families.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall Jazz Bantam experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage several priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with coaches, parents, referees, and youth participants.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of problem-solving in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism when representing a major sports brand.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the fall and winter seasons.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Forms).
  • Prior experience in youth sports, event coordination, or game operations preferred.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Utah driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screening in accordance with company policy and insurance requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
  • The person must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
