Product Development Engineer - Intern

As a Bill of Materials (BOM) Engineer -  Ford Champ, you will be responsible to coordinate and make sure the BOM completeness and quality of data in support of the Change Management Process and prototype builds. BOM Engineer tracks the impact of Material Cost, Weight and Investment adjustments during Change Management from Early Stages and until Program Approval, work together with Prototype Purchasing by qualifying the Prototype BOM to initiate the Prototype Sourcing process in support of the Fit Prototype Process and makes sure the design intent is accurate in the visual representation in the PLM system (TcE).

Responsibilities

• AI opportunity identification: Help identify and explore opportunities to apply artificial intelligence to improve operational processes and project requirements.
• Data analysis and visualization: Analyze, organize, and visualize data from multiple systems to interpret trends and support clear reporting to different audiences. 
• Project planning: Support the development of project plans, including work schedules, timelines, and collaboration models with purchasing, engineering, and program management teams.
• Parts list accuracy and issue resolution: Request and validate that prototype parts lists contain accurate data, follow up with part owners to resolve missing information, and track issues through to closure.
• Cross-functional coordination: Update purchasing records with the latest status codes, help resolve engineering issues affecting purchase orders, and stay informed on upcoming build requirements and their impact on parts and ordering systems.
• System alignment and digital strategy: Review changes across engineering systems to keep records properly aligned, support reviews of digital models, and help lead strategies for accurately representing design intent in digital engineering systems.

Qualifications

• Active student from any of the last 2 semesters of Computer Engineering, Data science, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, or similar technical discipline. 
• Programming Skills (coding in VBA Excel macros, Python desirable)
• 90% English skills (Oral, reading, writing, and listening)
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills (Spanish and English)
• Microsoft Office management (Power BI, Word, Excel and Power Point). 
• Ability to analyze complex problems and assess possible solutions 
• Ability to prioritize and plan effectively 
• A commitment to keep up to date with new technology
• Excellent team working and people skills 
• Leadership, persuasion, and influence on others
• 3D CAD software desirable (CATIA V5, NX, etc)
• PDM systems knowledge desirable (Teamcenter Engineering/3DX).
