Summer Intern 2027 - ESG & Sustainable Finance Intern

This role supports the General Account ESG team in integrating ESG and climate-related considerations into investment decision-making across Manulife's global investment portfolio. Responsibilities include climate risk analysis, ESG integration, regulatory reporting, data analysis, and sustainable finance research. The successful candidate will work with colleagues across Investments, Risk, Finance, Data, and Sustainability to support a range of ESG and climate-related initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:
•    Conduct research on ESG, climate and sustainable finance trends, regulations and market practices relevant to the General Account.
•    Support climate risk analysis and the assessment of material ESG risks and opportunities across public and private investments.
•    Support with analyzing portfolio data, including emissions and other climate and ESG metrics.
•    Contribute to regulatory requirements and reporting, internal reporting and related process improvements.
•    Support ESG integration, sustainable finance assessments, peer benchmarking and thematic research.
•    Translate research and data into clear presentations, briefings and practical insights.
•    Collaborate with colleagues across Investments, Risk, Finance, Data and Sustainability on priority initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
•    Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in finance, economics, business, sustainability, environmental studies, or a related field.
•    Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze information, and synthesize findings into clear insights.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Interest in sustainable finance, climate change and/or ESG.
•    Coursework or previous experience related to finance, investments, sustainability, climate or data analytics.
•    Ability to interpret complex information and communicate key insights clearly.
•    Proactive approach to learning, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative working style.

Salary range is expected to be between:

$39,000.00 CAD - $60,450.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. The annual salary will be pro-rated based on the length of the work-term.
