The PeoplesBank Internship Program is now accepting applications for Summer 2027! This 10-week paid internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the banking industry, expand their professional network, develop workplace and leadership skills, and explore rewarding careers in banking and financial services.

Our Summer Internship Program is full-time, 10-week experience (June–August) designed to build real-world skills and industry insight, where you will gain hands-on exposure to the banking world, develop leadership and workplace competencies, and learn how a mutual bank like PeoplesBank puts people first.
As an intern, you will work on meaningful projects tailored to the department you will represent, supported by a structured training plan that includes on-the-job learning, independent study, and participation in community and industry events. In addition to project work, interns will participate in networking events, executive meet-and-greets, professional development sessions, and opportunities to connect with leaders across the organization. This role is based in Holyoke, MA, and will benefit from both internal and external learning resources throughout the program. Interns will be assigned to one of the following teams based on business needs, educational background, and career interests: Finance/Treasury, Digital Growth, Risk Oversight, Retail Administration, Commercial Lending (Lending, Underwriting, Cash Management), Project Management, Wealth Management, IT and Human Resources.
Internship Learning Objectives & Expectations:
- Company Insight: Build a strong foundation in the products, operations, and systems unique to each department, gaining practical knowledge through hands-on experience.
- Banking Fundamentals: Develop a working understanding of the banking industry, with a special focus on PeoplesBank’s mission, values, and business model.
- Professional Development: Strengthen workplace and leadership skills through PeoplesBank Academy and a variety of internal and external learning opportunities.
- Compliance & Standards: Complete all required compliance training and testing, while adhering to federal, state, and bank regulations, policies, and service standards.
- Presentation & Communication: At the conclusion of the internship, prepare and deliver a professional presentation to PeoplesBank leaders, managers, peers and other stakeholders, highlighting key projects, accomplishments, lessons learned and overall internship experience.
- Departmental Engagement: Host Department Advisors will provide guidance and establish learning objectives at the start of the internship, including:
- Learning daily department operations
- Navigating department systems and data
- Understanding current initiatives and contributing to relevant projects
Education and/or Experience Required:
Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in a field relevant to the internship
Skills needed:
- Leadership potential demonstrated through involvement on campus, in the community, athletics, student organizations, volunteer activities, or employment.
- Demonstrated interest in business, banking, financial services, technology, project management, human resources, or related fields through coursework, extracurricular involvement, projects, or prior work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and systems
Computer Skills:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
