Pratt & Whitney is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, Back-End Developer to support our team in designing, rebuilding and optimizing an existing SQL database system. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with real data, contribute to meaningful internal tools, and sharpen your full‑stack development skills. This internship is a great opportunity to strengthen your technical skills while working with experienced developers on a business-critical application.

What You Will Do

• Assist in designing, developing, and optimizing backend services and APIs
• Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models
• Support backend development using Python and/or Java
• Support integration with front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Help build and maintain APIs and server-side logic
• Participate in debugging, testing, and code reviews
• Document database structures, processes, and updates
• Learn best practices in software development, security, and performance optimization

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in
• Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session.
• Experience with SQL, Python, or Java
• Experience with HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
• US Person - Job requires access to ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware (directly or indirectly) and the company will not seek an export authorization for this role

Qualifications We Prefer

• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
• Exposure to relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.)
• Experience with Git or other version control tools
• Understanding of REST APIs
• Coursework or personal projects involving backend or database development
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
