The Role

As a Geomatics Engineering Intern, you will support surveyors, engineers, and geospatial professionals working on land surveying, mapping, data collection, and spatial analysis for infrastructure and development projects. You will gain hands-on exposure to technical design tools, project documentation, field conditions, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery while contributing to active assignments with guidance from experienced professionals.  

What You’ll Do

• Assist with field surveys, measurements, data collection, calculations, mapping, drawings, and other project documentation. 
• Support boundary, topographic, construction, utility, and control survey activities under professional guidance. 
• Help process and organize survey, GPS, laser-scanning, drone, CAD, and GIS data for project use.

What You’ll Learn

• How surveying and geomatics principles, field methods, coordinate systems, and technical standards are applied to real projects. 
• How field observations are collected, checked, processed, mapped, and incorporated into design deliverables. 
• How geomatics professionals coordinate with civil engineers, planners, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or associate degree program in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geographic Information Science, or a related field. 
• Completion of relevant surveying, mapping, GIS, CAD, mathematics, or technical coursework. 
• Basic understanding of surveying, geospatial data, coordinate systems, or mapping principles. 
• Ability to perform fieldwork and use Microsoft Office and basic CAD or GIS applications.

Preferred

• Internship, co-op, field, or project experience related to surveying, geomatics, mapping, or GIS. 
• Familiarity with total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, laser scanners, drones, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or related tools. 
• Involvement in NSPS, ASPRS, ASCE, or related professional organizations.
