Society Insurance is seeking a Staff Underwriting Intern for Summer 2027 (with the potential to work part-time during the school year). Society's interns work 40 hours per week throughout the summer and flexible scheduling opportunities are provided.

 

About the Role

  • Assists in preparing underwriting-related reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Shadows underwriters across various lines of business to understand risk evaluation, quoting, and renewal workflows
  • Observes and documents underwriting decision-making processes and rating methodologies. 
  • Participates in a department-level project focused on growth, profitability, or operational efficiency 
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather insights and contribute to project deliverables

About You

  • You like to conduct research and stay current with underwriting guidelines.
  • You enjoy coming up with new and unique ideas. 
  • You can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.
  • You like tasks that require attention to detail. 

 

What it Will Take

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in accounting, business, economics, finance, or insurance & risk management.
  • Full-time junior or senior collegiate status.
  • Basic computer software knowledge.
