Job Title: IT Intern- Infrastructure 

Location: East Kilbride, Scotland 

Contract: Starting July 2027, 13-month Fixed Term Contract 

Hours/Shift Pattern: 9am- 5pm, Monday to Friday

What you'll be doing:  

As a IT Intern Infrastructure, you will gain hands-on experience across Technical Support, Network Operations, and User Workplace Services, supporting the technology that keeps our business running. Based in East Kilbride, you will assist with troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting network infrastructure, deploying and configuring devices, and helping deliver reliable IT services to users across the organisation. This placement provides a unique opportunity to develop practical technical skills while working alongside experienced IT professionals in a fast-paced enterprise environment. 

Key tasks & responsibilities include: 

•  Provide second-line support for hardware, software, network, and workplace technology issues.  
• Assist with the deployment, configuration, and management of end-user devices and IT equipment.  
• Support monitoring and maintenance activities across network and infrastructure services.  
• Respond to service requests and incidents, escalating issues where appropriate.  
• Maintain technical documentation, asset records, and knowledge base articles.  
• Participate in IT projects, technology rollouts, and service improvement initiatives.  
• Collaborate with colleagues across Core Technologies to deliver reliable and secure IT services.  
• Work alongside other placement students on team projects that develop technical and professional skills.

What we’re looking for: 

This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are on track for a 2:1 or above and are enthusiastic about IT support, infrastructure, and service management. We welcome applications from students of all backgrounds and disciplines who are currently in university and looking for a placement year role. 

Key Skills, Qualities & Qualifications Include:  

• Adaptation in dynamic environments:  Ability to adapt and stay focused in dynamic environments, including when working to tight deadlines. 
• Initiative and teamwork: Capability to work independently and collaboratively 
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking: Able to identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues efficiently and logically  
• Good communication and customer service attitude: Comfortable interacting with users, explaining solutions clearly, and maintaining a helpful and professional approach.  
• Ability to document issues and resolutions clearly: Skilled in writing concise and accurate support documentation to contribute to knowledge sharing and future reference. 
• Willingness to learn new tools and technologies: Open to continuous learning and development, including gaining experience with enterprise IT systems and support platforms. 
• UK Driving License: Must hold a full UK driving licence for at least one year 
• UK Residency: Eligibility to work in the UK (Please note this role is not eligible for sponsorship as the salary falls below the required threshold.)
