About the Role

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER ONLY

After Care Assistant
The After Care Assistant will support teachers and staff during Gordon Parks Elementary School's after-school care program. The student will help supervise children and assist with educational and enrichment activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist staff with supervision of students during after care.
- Read with students individually or in small groups.
- Provide basic reading and English tutoring/support under teacher supervision.
- Assist students with reading, English, and other homework assignments.
- Help prepare and organize reading and educational activities.
- Assist with games, enrichment activities, and other structured programming.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive after-school environment.
- Assist teachers with additional after-care needs as assigned.


Requirements:

- Must be comfortable working with children

- Must be able to pass a background check

- Must have own transportation

This off-campus Federal Work-Study position allows college students to gain hands-on educational experience at Gordon Parks Elementary. Students support classrooms, mentor children, and assist with school activities while developing valuable communication, leadership, and professional skills. The partnership connects students with the local community while meeting Federal Work-Study community service and literary tutor requirements.


Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday

At least 2 shifts a week is preferred. Choice of days is flexible.
