About the Role

Description

Position Overview

The Supply Chain Operations & Process Intern will support the optimization of workflows connecting our Program, Warehouse, and Logistics teams. Working closely with operations leadership, you will help bridge the gap between office strategy and warehouse execution by auditing physical processes, mapping workflows across our systems (NetSuite ERP and Warelinx WMS), and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role is ideal for a student seeking hands-on experience in process mapping, system utilization, warehouse operations, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

1. Workflow Mapping & Process Documentation

? Shadow warehouse floor staff and program managers to document end-to-end order fulfillment processes.

? Draft visual process maps that outline how orders move from NetSuite entry to Warelinx fulfillment and final carrier dispatch.

? Create and update clear, highly visual Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for warehouse staff.

2. Process Auditing & Quality Control

? Conduct weekly "floor-to-system" audits to ensure physical picking and packing practices match system requirements.

? Identify operational bottlenecks and document instances where manual workarounds (e.g., external spreadsheets) are used instead of system automation.

? Report variance findings to operations leads to help maintain system data integrity.

3. Operations Analytics & Support

? Assist in gathering and analyzing fulfillment data, including order cycle times, picking accuracy, and shipping lead times.

? Support the gathering of operational logic and user requirements to help the Data Team build cross-departmental dashboards.

? Assist with inbound logistics tracking, helping analyze dock schedule efficiency and receiving throughput.

Qualifications

? Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field.

? Systems Exposure: Familiarity with ERP (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and WMS concepts; strong proficiency in MS Excel / Google Sheets and process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart).

? Analytical Skills: Ability to collect operational data, identify trends, and present findings clearly.

? Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with warehouse floor associates, program teams, and operations managers.

? Mindset: Curiosity for solving operational puzzles, strong attention to detail, and a focus on continuous improvement.

5 Specific Fall Internship Projects

Project 1: "Floor-to-System" SOP & Workflow Mapping

? Objective: Map the end-to-end flow of an order from initial NetSuite creation to Warelinx picking, packing, and truck loading.

? Deliverable: A comprehensive workflow diagram (Lucidchart/Visio) and a updated digital binder of user-friendly, step-by-step SOPs tailored for warehouse associates. ? Impact: Provides the future Manager (hired in February) with clear visual documentation of baseline operations and highlights compliance gaps on the warehouse floor.

Project 2: Shadow Spreadsheets & Manual Workaround Audit

? Objective: Identify every offline spreadsheet or manual process currently used by Program and Warehouse teams to track orders, inventory, or shipping status. ? Deliverable: A matrix detailing every manual workaround, why it exists, what NetSuite/Warelinx feature should replace it, and the operational risk it poses. ? Impact: Sets up a clear roadmap for the incoming Manager to eliminate system friction and enforce single-source-of-truth data usage.

Project 3a: Inbound Receiving & Dock Schedule Analysis

? Objective: Analyze inbound shipment arrivals over the past 3–6 months against warehouse receiving speed and dock availability.

? Deliverable: A capacity analysis report identifying peak congestion hours, carrier arrival variances, and recommendations for balanced inbound routing windows. ? Impact: Reduces warehouse floor congestion and provides actionable data for team discussions regarding dock coordination.

Project 3b: System Data Cleanliness & "Checks & Balances" Exception Reporting

? Objective: Build a daily/weekly exception-reporting routine between NetSuite and Warelinx to identify system sync errors, data mismatches, and stuck transactions before they impact fulfillment or financial reporting.

? Deliverable: A standardized suite of saved searches/reports (or functional requirements for the data team) tracking specific data anomalies—such as orders stuck in sync, inventory level mismatches between WMS/ERP, shipped orders missing tracking

numbers, or negative stock indicators—along with a simple "Data Hygiene Playbook" outlining how to resolve each error.

? Impact: Establishes an automated safety net for data integrity, drastically reducing manual troubleshooting and ensuring clean, accurate system data is waiting for the full-time Manager in February.

Project 4: Pick Path & Travel Time Study

? Objective: Conduct a time-and-motion study on dynamic picking logic within the warehouse.

? Deliverable: A heatmap and report illustrating associate travel paths, pick-location bottlenecks, and recommendations for bin organization or Warelinx picking sequence tweaks.

? Impact: Directly targets travel time reduction, boosting fulfillment throughput heading into peak season.

Project 5: Fulfillment Cycle Time Baseline & KPI Dashboard Requirements

? Objective: Track order progression across key milestones (Order Placed - System Sync - Pick Released - Packed - Shipped).

? Deliverable: A documented set of KPI requirements and baseline metrics to hand off to the Internal Data Team for dashboard development.

? Impact: Establishes performance benchmarks so leadership can measure fulfillment efficiency gains before and after full-time roles are filled.
