Programme overview:
Our 2027 Tokyo Summer Internship Programme runs for 10 weeks. This internship is designed to give you an introduction to the asset and wealth management industry and offers valuable insight into how your chosen department operates within Schroders.
Throughout the programme you will:
Take part in comprehensive introductory training to build your understanding of the business
Be assigned to a team where you will contribute to live projects and gain meaningful hands-on experience
Shadow experienced professionals and learn directly from leaders in the field
Have opportunities to network with colleagues and other interns, helping you build connections for your future career
This 10-week Japanese Equities Internship offers the opportunity to explore a career in investment management. Working alongside experienced research analysts, fund managers, and investment product managers, you will gain exposure to a range of investment approaches. Through a combination of training, mentorship and practical experience, you will develop your analytical, technical and professional skills while contributing to the work of our investment teams.

We are looking for proactive and adaptable individuals who display robust numerical and analytical skills and a strong work ethic. You should be interested in financial markets, comfortable working with data, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. Clear communication, a collaborative spirit, and a logical approach to solving problems are essential. Preferred skills and capabilities:
A basic understanding of macroeconomics and investment concepts relevant to asset management.

What a Public Markets internship entails:
- Our 10-week internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in asset management while building the skills and knowledge needed for a career in investing.
- Working alongside experienced research analysts, fund managers, and investment product managers, you will undertake analysis that contributes to investment decisions. This work may include macroeconomic and market research, industry and company analysis, building company models, and developing investment theses. During the programme, you will complete and present at least one investment project to the Japanese Equities team, showcasing the skills and insights you have developed. You'll be supported by dedicated mentors throughout and encouraged to build both your technical and professional skills in a collaborative and intellectually curious environment
- Our internships are the primary route into our graduate programme. As well as demonstrating your potential, you'll gain a genuine insight into life at Schroders and discover whether it is the right place to build a long-term career in investment management
Knowledge, experience and qualifications we’re looking for:
When the internship commences, you should be on track to graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in 2028.
- We welcome applications from all degree subjects, although a STEM focused degree discipline would be beneficial.
Please note that we do not accept applications from students in their final year who intend to undertake further study (e.g. a Master's degree) before entering employment.
Proficiency in digital skills, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and AI tools/coding, with the ability to apply technology to solve problems, streamline processes and improve outcomes.
Ability to understand and adapt communications for different audiences and stakeholder groups.
Native-level Japanese and fluent English communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to collaborate effectively with both Japanese and global stakeholders, internally and externally.
