About the Role

COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION INTERNSHIP

Location: Springdale, Arkansas

Employment Type: Hourly Internship

Compensation: $24/hour

BUILD YOUR FUTURE WITH THE HERD

Interested in building a career in commercial construction but still figuring out exactly where you fit? Buffalo Builders' internship program is designed to give students meaningful, hands-on exposure to the many career paths that make great construction projects - and great construction companies possible.

Our internship opportunities are a great fit for students pursuing degrees related to the commercial construction industry, including Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Development, Marketing, Communications, Finance, and other relevant areas of study.

Whether you see yourself working in the field, managing projects, estimating future work, helping win new business, or supporting the teams behind the scenes, we'll help you gain real-world experience while learning from people who know the industry.

WHERE COULD YOU GAIN EXPERIENCE?

Internship experiences may vary based on your interests, area of study, business needs, and available projects. Opportunities may include exposure to:

Project Management & Field Operations

Work alongside our Project Managers and Superintendents to see how commercial construction projects move from plans to reality. You may participate in project meetings, visit active jobsites, assist with project documentation and coordination, and learn about scheduling, safety, quality, subcontractor management, and project execution.

Estimating & Preconstruction

Learn what happens before construction begins. Interns interested in estimating and preconstruction may gain exposure to plan review, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor and vendor coordination, bid preparation, budgeting, and the processes we use to evaluate and pursue new projects.

Business Development & Marketing

See how relationships, storytelling, strategy, and market knowledge help grow a commercial construction company. Opportunities may include exposure to business development activities, client meetings, proposals, marketing initiatives, communications, and company events.

Corporate & Office Operations

Depending on your interests and available opportunities, you may also gain exposure to the business functions that support our projects, people, clients, and continued growth.

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

As a Buffalo Builders intern, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Apply what you're learning in the classroom to real-world situations.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to commercial construction projects and business operations.
  • Learn from experienced professionals across multiple areas of the company.
  • Develop a stronger understanding of how projects move from opportunity and estimate through construction and completion.
  • Gain exposure to industry technology and construction software, including platforms such as Procore.
  • Build your professional network and develop skills that will help prepare you for your career.
  • Explore different career paths within the commercial construction industry.
  • Contribute to meaningful work rather than simply observing from the sidelines.

Most importantly, you'll leave with a much better understanding of where you might fit in the commercial construction industry and what it takes to build a successful career in it.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for curious, motivated students who are ready to learn, contribute, ask questions, and experience the construction industry firsthand.

Ideal candidates are:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or another field relevant to commercial construction.
  • Interested in exploring a career within the commercial construction industry.
  • Strong communicators who enjoy collaborating with others.
  • Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Willing to learn, ask questions, and take on new challenges.
  • Comfortable working in both office and/or jobsite environments depending on their internship focus.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications; experience with construction or project management software is a plus, but not required.

Previous construction experience is not required. We're much more interested in your willingness to learn and your interest in building a career in the industry.

MORE THAN AN INTERNSHIP

We view our internship program as an opportunity to develop future members of the Herd. Throughout your experience, you'll have the chance to build relationships with Buffalo Builders leaders and team members, learn about potential career paths, and demonstrate what you can bring to the organization.

When the right opportunities are available, successful interns may be considered for future internships or full-time positions with Buffalo Builders.
