Description:

As an intern in the J9 Civil & Military Cooperation Branch (J9 CIMIC) at HQ JFC Brunssum, you will be required to contribute to the development of a standardised process for a continuous civil factor integration from peacetime vigilance to crisis/conflict.

About the internship:  

During this 6-month programme starting 30 August 2027 until 25 February 2028, you will join the J9 CIMIC Branch who is looking for an intern to contribute to the development of a standardised process development for a continuous civil factor integration from peacetime vigilance to crisis/conflict. This includes the development of a J9 CIMIC dashboard available to all JFCBS divisions supporting the functioning of the HQ. This work strand contributes to a more consistent approach for civil factor integration, ensuring that civil considerations are considered a continuous process supporting operational planning, assessment and cross-functional coordination.

 

The ideal candidate must:

1)          Be enrolled for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of Political Science, International Relations, Security Studies, Crisis Management, Data Science, Information Management, Geography, Civil-Military Cooperation or similar;

2)          Good knowledge of the following: ideation/innovation project and programme management tools; Project Management; relational databases; Project Management fundamentals;

3)          Possess knowledge of international organisations including the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation;

     4)          Be able to effectively plan and organize the working time; 

     5)          Have the ability to work under pressure.

In addition, we are looking for candidates having the following desirable skills:

     1)          Strong computer skills (e.g. ECDL) including use of Microsoft Office package (including Power BI);

     2)       Understanding of Data collection and information management; dashboard design or data                    visualisation; Civil-Military cooperation concepts, open-source research; basic project management;          process mapping; analytical writing; use of structured matrices, trackers or databases;

     3)          Be dynamic, self-motivated and personable with an ability to work in a team environment with            people from diverse backgrounds.

 

Stipend:

1)          You will be compensated at a fixed taxable rate of € 1477.30 (2026 rates), per month based on 37.5 hours internship work hours per week.

2)          We will also compensate you for travel costs to/from university to HQ JFC Brunssum (within set cap rates).

3)          Interns will be entitled to 2 days of leave for each full month (of 37.5 hrs a week) of internship.
