Position Overview

Be part of exciting FPSO, topsides, offshore and energy projects while gaining hands-on exposure to engineering, design, fabrication, transportation and installation of offshore energy facilities. The internship provides an opportunity to work alongside experienced structural team for structural design and analysis of major energy facilities. You will support structural engineering activities including structural calculations, steel and concrete design, structural drawings, load analysis, fabrication support, as well as constructability and engineering assessments. Gain valuable insight into how large-scale energy projects are engineered, fabricated, and delivered from concept through execution.

Depending on project assignments, you may have opportunities to develop specialized skills across structural design calculations, weight management and weight control, and/or finite element analysis while supporting ongoing FPSO Topside projects. This internship will take place from January to May 2027.

What you will do

  • Support the preparation of structural drawings, material take-offs, drafting updates, and basic calculation packages under supervision and guidance.
  • Assist in the development and review of structural deliverables such as design criteria, analysis reports, calculation packages, steel or concrete details, material requisitions, and fabrication support documents.
  • Participate in FPSO 3D model reviews, HSE activities, design reviews and inter-disciplinary coordination meetings. Work alongside and coordinate closely with naval architecture, layout, piping, mechanical, transportation, lifting, and installation teams to ensure integrated and constructible structural solutions.
  • Support engineers in resolving technical comments and updating project deliverables.
  • Follow company procedures, project requirements, and quality control processes while building discipline knowledge and software proficiency.
  • Depending on project assignments, support one of the following focus areas:
    • Structural Design Calculations: Learn to use SACS software to analyze FPSO topsides structures and support the review of structural engineering documents and calculations for ongoing projects. Learn application of offshore design codes including API, DNV, ISO, AISC and project specifications.
    • Weight Management & Weight Control: Learn topsides weight management and weight control procedures, and support the review, coordination, and reporting of weight data to ensure compliance with project requirements. Coordinate collection of weight information from engineering disciplines and equipment vendors.
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Learn to use FEMAP software for structural finite element modelling and analysis, and support engineering studies including the development of Stress Concentration Factor (SCF) databases for typical topsides structural connections. Participate in result interpretation, post-processing and preparation of engineering reports.

Qualification

  • Currently Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Basic understanding of structural engineering principles, steel structures, and engineering drawings.
  • Interest in offshore energy, EPCI(O), FPSO, topsides, or industrial projects is preferred.
