Job Description

GENDA Americas, Inc., is part of a global entertainment company based in Japan and operates in the United States and Canada through its subsidiary companies, Kiddleton US, LLC and Kiddleton Canada, Inc. Genda Americas, Inc. is the dominant amusement vending service provider in North America. Over its 80-year combined history, Genda Americas has defined and led the way for the entertainment and amusement vending universe. We manage, distribute, and maintain engaging amusement solutions—including arcade games, cranes, and vending kiosks. We operate at the intersection of entertainment, retail, restaurant, and commercial real estate, navigating a diverse landscape of state, provincial, and federal regulations.

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Law Student Intern to support our joint US-Canadian legal operations. This position offers a unique hands-on opportunity to gain experience in corporate law, cross-border commerce, regulatory compliance, and commercial contract management. You will work closely with executive leadership and the internal legal team to protect and scale our business operations across North America.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:


  • Contract Drafting & Review: Assist in preparing and reviewing commercial lease agreements, location agreements, vendor contracts, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), asset purchase agreements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Research US (state/federal) and Canadian (provincial/federal) laws regarding amusement gaming licensing, prize regulations, consumer protection, and data privacy.
  • Corporate Governance: Assist with state and provincial corporate filings, annual reports, and maintaining corporate minute books for our various operating entities.
  • Risk Management: Monitor changes in labor laws, insurance requirements, and liability rules affecting our field service teams in both countries.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research on emerging regulatory issues, including digital payment systems, automated retail regulations, and cross-border equipment transit.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education: Current enrollment in an accredited JD or LLB program (1L, 2L, or 3L).
  • Cross-Border Interest: Strong interest or coursework in international business, corporate law, or comparative US-Canadian law is highly preferred.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex legal concepts.
  • Organization: Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with legal research databases (Westlaw/LexisNexis) and standard corporate productivity tools (MS Office).


LANGUAGE SKILLS

English, with an ability to speak and understand Japanese and/or Frensh would be preferred, but not required.
